Walking into ElleHomme Holistic Med Spa is not quite what is expected from a medical spa; it´s charming and chic, comfortable and - dare I say - cozy. A far cry from the white- walled, lab coat-sheathed sterility of a doctor´s office, ElleHomme isn´t like other med spas. ElleHomme focuses on the whole person and not just the smile lines that have slowly begun to appear on one´s face.

Nestled in the West Loop just north of Greektown, ElleHomme opened in July 2008 and has quickly become a neighborhood favorite. Upscale enough to serve the CEOs that rent out the entire facility and the bridal parties that come out for pre-wedding pampering, ElleHomme is also approachable enough to stop in for a treatment or massage after a long workday.
 
Inside, the reception area is filled with natural light spilling from the storefront windows. The Tiffany blue walls and sleek lines of the minimal furniture evoke a sense of serenity. The far wall is lined with products for sale, and the spa totes brands like GloMinerals and Being True skin care products. From the genuinely cheerful staff to the warmly lit, comfortable surroundings, ElleHomme seems to ask, ``Why can´t a medical spa be gorgeous and comfortable too?´´

If a more aggressive procedure is performed, like Botox or a laser treatment, they´ll counteract it with a calming service, like a massage or a therapeutic treatment.
 
The staff is comprised of certified massage therapists, estheticians, registered nurses and doctors. Candles lined the baseboards of the hallway as she led me to the treatment room. She started off by cleansing my skin with a fresh smelling lotion. After examining my skin under a black light, she noticed some sun damage, a few oily spots, and some broken capillaries. She recommended a pass of Laser Vein Therapy to treat the few broken capillaries on my face that were causing a bit of redness in my cheeks ``Genetics are usually to blame,´´ she said. ``But get rid of them while you´re young.´´
 
The expert staff at ElleHomme puts an emphasis on prevention. According to the RN, the treatment for a few small broken capillaries and tiny crow´s feet is easier, less painful and takes fewer passes than waiting for the problem to get worse, and then having to treat a lot of redness or multiple deep wrinkles.
 
Everything was explicitly explained to me, which dramatically reduced my anxiety about the procedure. Turns out, there was nothing to be anxious about in the first place; each zap of the laser felt like the snap of a rubber band. Just as Elle promised, my capillary treatment was counterbalanced with a painless healing laser service to target damaged skin and promote the growth of new cells. When I looked in the mirror, the spots she had lasered were red and swollen, but I could already see that the little capillaries had disappeared. Within 24 hours, I was practically healed aside from some residual puffiness, and all those tiny red veins were amazingly gone!
